Heat Exchanger

The heat exchanger is part of the oxygenator and keeps the patient’s blood at the required temperature. When a patient is connected to an extracorporeal system, his/her temperature may drop. The body temperature is kept constant - or brought back up after it has cooled down - by means of water-carrying plastic fibers integrated in the oxygenator.
